2015 Highlights

Thanks to the generosity of all our supporters, it’s been another fantastic year. It is so exciting to know that we have been able to work with another 700 young people on the Spear programme. As we look back over the past year, we are so grateful for your contribution. Here’s a reminder of just some the year’s highlights: Once again we are thrilled that 75% of the young people who completed the first six weeks of Spear have got into work or further training, and are still there a year later. At our newest centre in Bethnal Green, the team are still in touch with 100% of their first cohort, and it’s amazing that over 80% of them are in work.
  • BBC Lunchtime News – Chief Executive, Tom Jackson, was interviewed with Reece, a stabbing victim whose life was turned around by Spear.
  • We won the ERSA Youth Employment Award – the industry award for the employment services sector. Spear received the award from Employment Minister Priti Patel.
  • The Spear Party was a huge success, raising well over £300,000. Four hundred guests were treated to entertainment from award-winning magician, Dynamo; mime act, The Boy with Tape on his Face; an opera singer and a live and silent auction.
2016: Plans for a New Spear Centre

In 2016, we hope to work with even more young people. As always, our vision is to raise aspiration and see young people achieve more than they ever thought possible. We hope to open at least one new centre in north London. We will also expand our work with employers to place Spear candidates directly into jobs. We look forward to sharing more news about our work with you in 2016.
